2024 U of I Digital Poster Template
Template I designed to help promote new and older digital collections in my work as the Digital Initiatives Librarian. Images are separated into fore, middle and background and angled slightly using Adobe After Effects to create a slightly three dimensional, diorama like effect. I realized at some point that this is almost exactly halfway between my previous work in collage and more recent work archiving stereoscopic images.
Panorama Paper Art Project
When 2020 began to bear down, I started working on looser ink wash illustrations to try and get out of my head for a bit. Over time, these illustrations became long panoramas of jumbled landscapes.
I thought about how I could best present panoramas since two dimensional formats create some difficulties for the viewer. I also wanted to create something tactile that could be effected by sunlight and the perspective of the onlooker. Gleaning zoetropes, Hamm’s beer “Scene-o-Rama” scrolling signs and Italian Renaissance scenic craft, I designed a multi-tiered panorama that could be assembled with just glue, clothespins and a toothpick.
This involved origami, knot making and a little geometry; designing paper brackets to join the inner and outer panels, creating a visual guide and a making a simple card to organize the wooden loop and string to suspend the panoramas. The template design also involved fitting all of these elements on two 11x17 sheets of paper.
